QUANTEC® PL-488 admixture is specifically formulated for use in the manufacture of concrete block, concrete pavers, concrete pipe, and other concrete products where the process requires zero or low slump concrete and where a smooth, tight, surface finish with a swipe is desirable. QUANTEC® PL-488 admixture is formulated to improve workability and increase strength.

QUANTEC® PL-488 admixture may be used in all low slump manufactured concrete products to improve the manufacturing efficiency while increasing strength. The admixture produces the rich smear required for a smooth, swipe finish. QUANTEC® PL-488 is intended for use in concrete block mixes and may be beneficial if used in concrete pipe, concrete pavers, and concrete brick.
QUANTEC® PL-488 admixture is both a dispersing agent and a strength enhancer designed to provide a swipe finish. By dispersing the cement and aggregate fines, it improves the workability of the mix. Dispersion of the cement results in more complete hydration, and consequently, greater strength for any given cement content.
The improved workability provided by QUANTEC® PL-488 admixture allows for better compaction of the concrete with less cracking and crazing and sharper corners and edges, resulting in fewer culls. Production can be increased, absorption reduced, and appearance and surface characteristics greatly improved.
QUANTEC® PL-488 is compatible with other admixtures, but when multiple admixtures are used they must be added separately to the mix.
QUANTEC® PL-488 admixture is used at a rate of 0.5-2 oz/cwt (33-130 mL/100 kg) of cementitious materials, including pozzolans. The addition rate is dependent upon the specific set of materials and the desired end properties.
QUANTEC® PL-488 is available in 55 U.S. gallon (208 L) drums and 275 U.S. gallon (1,040 L) returnable totes.
Health & Safety
All precautions defined on the SDS (Safety Data Sheet) for QUANTEC® PL-488 must be followed.
QUANTEC® PL-488 admixture will begin to freeze at approximately 32°F (0°C), but will return to full strength after thawing and thorough mechanical agitation.
