Overview

What is MONOKOTE®?

MONOKOTE®, fireproofing backed by a global reputation, is a life-safety product designed to reduce the rate of temperature rise in steel or concrete in the event of a fire. This prolongs the structural integrity of the elements, which allows more people to leave a building in an emergency situation, and gives first responders time to save the building.

A global reputation for excellence

Based on its easy-to-use characteristics, global reputation and lengthy proven history, MONOKOTE® has been employed in some of the world's biggest projects. The MGM City Center in Las Vegas, the world's largest privately funded construction project, employed over 500,000 bags of GCP Applied Technologies fireproofing product. Likewise, the architects of Singapore's Keppel Bay Bridge and New York City's own Freedom Tower have each specified MONOKOTE® products to keep their buildings safe.

Contractor friendly in a number of applications

MONOKOTE® has been specifically designed to be contractor friendly. The materials are typically spray-applied, and can be pumped easily into the upper floors of tall buildings. In addition to being less abrasive and less challenging to pump, users can also elect to inject MONOKOTE® to impact set time and density of the material. See our contractor quick links.

Designed to resist environmental extremes

Within the MONOKOTE® brand there is a family of products; each product is designed to meet varying fireproofing and physical property requirements. MONOKOTE® products can be used on steel, concrete, and even urethane surfaces. There are products for interior applications as well as ones for exterior applications which are designed to withstand weather, and industrial environments. Tunnels, subways, and petrochemical refineries all have unique environmental conditions and unique risks due to fire—and they all have a MONOKOTE® product designed specifically for those needs. Lastly, building codes specify different bond strengths and densities for fireproofing material based on building height. For each set of requirements, MONOKOTE® provides a solution, for example MONOKOTE® MK-1000, a product with a 1000 PSF bond strength designed for buildings over 420 feet tall.

Worldwide technical and field support

Every region around the world uses different steel and concrete products from different sources, using an array of building techniques. No matter how a skyscraper is getting built, we know a way to make MONOKOTE® achieve maximum safety performance.
