Product Description
BITUTHENE® Primer WP-3000 is a water-based latex primer which is specifically formulated to bind dust and concrete efflorescence, thereby providing a suitable surface for BITUTHENE® membranes. BITUTHENE® Primer WP-3000 promotes good initial adhesion and, more importantly, excellent permanent adhesion of BITUTHENE® membranes. The VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) content is <95 g/L and it meets the U.S. E.P.A. Volatile Organic Compound Emission Standards for Architectural Coatings. Architectural and industrial maintenance regulations limit the VOC content in products classified as architectural coatings. Refer to Technical Letters for the most current list of allowable limits.

Application Procedures
Safety, Storage and Handling Information
BITUTHENE® products must be handled properly. Vapors from solvent-based primers and mastic are harmful and flammable. GCP Protection Board Adhesive is extremely flammable. For these products, the best available information on safe handling, storage, personal protection, health and environmental considerations has been gathered. SDS (Safety Data Sheets) are available and users should acquaint themselves with this information. Carefully read detailed precaution statements on product labels and the SDS before use.
Application
BITUTHENE® Primer WP-3000 is packaged ready to use. Do not dilute with water or solvent. Apply by spray or roller. For best results use a professional grade, pump-type compressed air sprayer with a brass fan tip nozzle.
Apply the primer to clean surfaces at a coverage rate of 500– 600 ft2/gal (12–15 m2/L). Coverage should be uniform. Primer should not be applied so heavily that it puddles or runs. Do not apply directly to BITUTHENE® membrane.
Allow the primer to dry one hour. In humid conditions, dry time may be longer. In general, priming should be limited to what can be covered in 24 hours. In conditions where long dry times are expected, substrates may be primed in advance. Substrates should be reprimed if significant dirt or dust accumulates.
Before primer dries, tools should be cleaned with water. After primer dries, tools should be cleaned with mineral spirits. Mineral spirits is a combustible liquid which should be used only in accordance with manufacturer’s safety recommendations. Do not use solvents to clean hands or skin.
