Waterproofing contractors attending the GCP Regional Applicator Conference on March 8-9, 2016, in Taipei, Taiwan, walked away with knowledge on the essential attributes of pre-applied waterproofing technology and what affects its performance under actual job site conditions. They also had the opportunity to network with colleagues and industry experts.
The annual conference attracted close to 60 waterproofing contractors this year from Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
The diverse group appreciated sharing of third-party test reports and application tips, which enabled them to better advocate and install PREPRUFE® pre-applied waterproofing membranes in their respective locations.
The conference also provided an opportunity for contractors to interact directly with Jyoti Seth, Global R&D Director for Building Envelope and Residential Products, and He Hu Chen, Senior Scientist at the Beijing R&D Center.
Apart from pre-applied waterproofing, John Cheam, Regional Technical Service Manager for ASEAN, shared best practices in the spray application of SILCOR® liquid waterproofing.
Contractors from Singapore and Thailand, who have had the most experience with this range of products, were happy to share their knowledge with peers from other regions. Participants also benefited from case study presentations on the application of BITUTHENE® self-adhesive waterproofing membrane for electrical insulation in Hong Kong subway projects.
Waterproofing aside, the conference had its lighter moments, as well. The day opened with an ice-breaking scavenger hunt. And the annual seminar concluded with a leisurely, networking trip to Jiufen, a mountain village about an hour from Taipei.
Seen above: The conference was opened by Ms. Gladys Kwan, Commercial Director for Hong Kong, ASEAN and India region.
