A Tradition of Quality and Innovation

Utilizing technologies derived from the aerospace industry, ORCON® invented the hot melt carpet seam tape in the early 1970’s, creating a new category of products that continues to define the flooring market today. Through the rest of the century, the company continued to build out a full line of high quality hot melt carpet seam tapes to meet the needs of all carpeting installations. ORCON® also began working with professional flooring installers to patent and market innovative carpeting installation tools to help speed up and improve the carpet installation process. ORCON® has developed a full range of hot melt seam tapes, all made in the USA, to accommodate all carpet backings and traffic levels. Whether installing carpets with jute, ACTIONBAC®, SoftBac, latex, woven, or any other type of backing, there is an ORCON® seam tape that will do the job correctly. Our tapes use the highest quality of thermoplastics specifically designed for every application, so that the tapes melt at the right temperature with low levels of smoke and odors and flow into the carpet backing, creating the strongest seams. ORCON®’s XU-90 seam tape has been developed to be able to accommodate every type of carpet backing. For high traffic and commercial applications, we offer 7” wide hot melt tapes and double stick tapes with a pressure sensitive adhesive on the bottom. Regardless of the situation, there is an ORCON® seam tape designed for the job.

ORCON® got its start in carpet installation tools by partnering with flooring installers who came up with their own solutions when the available tools just were not good enough.
